{"id":341,"date":"2026-05-27T09:54:10","date_gmt":"2026-05-27T07:54:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kaivosfestivaali.fi\/in-english\/"},"modified":"2026-05-27T09:54:10","modified_gmt":"2026-05-27T07:54:10","slug":"in-english","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/kaivosfestivaali.fi\/en\/in-english\/","title":{"rendered":"In English"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Kaivos Festival<\/h1>\n<p class=\"\">The eighth Kaivos Festival takes place on 4th &#8211; 6th September 2026 at the old copper mine of Outokumpu, 1km from the center of Outokumpu, Northern Karelia, Eastern Finland. The program, including contemporary art music, documentary film, contemporary dance and scientific lectures among others, will soon be published <a href=\"https:\/\/kaivosfestivaali.fi\/ohjelma\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>. <\/p>\n<h2>Travelling to Outokumpu<\/h2>\n<h3>Public transport<\/h3>\n<p class=\"\">From Helsinki, Lahti, Kouvola or Lappeenranta: train to Joensuu and then a bus to Outokumpu Kaupungintalo.<br \/>\nFrom Tampere, Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4, Oulu or Mikkeli: train to Kuopio and then a bus to Outokumpu Kaupungintalo.<br \/>\nFrom Turku: Take the train either to Kuopio or to Joensuu, depending on the timetables, then a bus to Outokumpu Kaupungintalo.<br \/>\nAlternatively: you can also take train to Viinij\u00e4rvi if you have a bike with you. It is 15 kilometres from Viinij\u00e4rvi to Outokumpu. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">You can buy train tickets on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vr.fi\">www.vr.fi<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Bus tickets from Kuopio\/Joensuu to Outokumpu you can buy on www.matkahuolto.fi. Search for a bus to \u201cOutokumpu kaupungintalo\u201d (Outokumpu city hall) or Outokummun linja-autoasema (Outokumpu bus station). From the bus stops there is a 300- 750m walk to Kummunkatu 21, which is the main festival address. Turn left after the church and when you see the old mining area, you have arrived.<br \/>\nYou can also check busses to a stop with a name Ulla, gas station located 5 kilometres from Outokumpu. Some busses between Kuopio and Joensuu stop only at Ulla, without coming to the centre of Outokumpu.    <\/p>\n<h3>Travelling by car<\/h3>\n<p class=\"\">Parking is available at the festival site, <strong>Kummunkatu 21, Outokumpu (next to Kiisu-teatteri) and Kaivosmiehenpolku 2 (next to the Festival Restaurant Vanha Paja).<br \/>\nThe distances by car to Outokumpu are:<br \/>\n<\/strong>from <strong>Joensuu 50 km<br \/>\nfrom Kuopio 95 km<br \/>\nfrom Kajaani 220 km<br \/>\nfrom Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4 230 km<br \/>\nfrom Helsinki 420 km<br \/>\nfrom Turku 540 km<br \/>\nfrom Rovaniemi 540 km<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Accommodation<\/h2>\n<p class=\"\">In Outokumpu there is one hotel <a href=\"https:\/\/hotellikumpu.fi\/\">(hotellikumpu.fi)<\/a> and one guest house (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kyykerinkartano.fi\/\">kyykerinkartano.fi<\/a>) located 0,5 km from the festival area.<\/p>\n<p>There is also a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sarkiselka.fi\">S\u00e4rkiselk\u00e4 Camping<\/a> located at a beautiful lake shore 5 kilometers from the festival venue.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\n<h2>The festival cafe<\/h2>\n<p class=\"\"><strong><em>The information about festival cafe will be soon updated to this page.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Tickets<\/h2>\n<p class=\"\"><strong>The tickets can be bought <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/kaivosfestivaali.tapahtumiin.fi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in our ticket site<\/a> <strong>as well as in the festival cafe.
